MG James E. Rogers

Major General James E. Rogers commanded AMCOM from 10 September 2010 to 1 June 2012. Prior to this, Major General Rogers commanded the 1st Sustainment Command (Theater), Ft Bragg, NC. In that capacity he led over 10,000 Soldiers providing logistical support across the U.S. Central Command area of operations. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1979 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and was commissioned as a 2LT in the Ordnance Corps. Major General Rogers also holds a master's degree in Industrial and Operational Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Prior to commanding the 1st TSC, Major General Rogers commanded the Joint Munitions Command at Rock Island, IL for three years. His previous assignments include: Chief of Logistics Operations Division (J-4) at the U.S. Central Command; Commander, 101st Division Support Command, Fort Campbell, KY; Chief of Ordnance Branch of the Officer Personnel Management Division, U.S. Army Total Personnel Command in Alexandria, VA. and Commander of the 82nd Forward Support Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC. He has also served as a Research and Development Coordinator for the Future Combat Systems at the Program Executive Office for Armored Systems Modernization at Warren, MI; and as the Logistics Assistance Officer for the 2nd Infantry Division, Republic of Korea. Major General Rogers' operational assignments include Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom from 2008 to present.

Major General Rogers' military education includes the Ordnance Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College. Major General Rogers' awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal, the Senior Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. He is also a member of both the Aviation Order of St Michael and the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe.

A native of Brighton, MI, Major General Rogers is married to the former Reba Cypher. They are the parents of four children: Jeff, Tom, and twins Matt and Jessi.
